The dinner was attended by 250 guests made up mostly of old boys but including many rugby personalities both old and current. Heading up the old guard was distinguished old boy Dr. Cecil Moss (1949 Springbok vice-captain and wing as well as an ex-WP and Springbok coach). Also present were SACS’s current two Springbok 7’s players Kyle Brown and Paul Delport.
The guest speaker for the evening was former Springbok captain Andre Vos. He gave a pertinent speech on the need for parents to have perspective when it comes to their son’s abilities and achievements. He used many references to his former teammate and friend Andre Venter has had to face going from being a champion Springbok flank to dealing with the effects of a degenerative disease.
The evening was a resounding success and everyone present enjoyed the comeradie and sense of pride that comes from being a member of such a fine institution.
