Boys Hockey: A New Leader on this Week's Rankings: 12/06/2019

The aftermath of the Clifton induced tremor is plain to see on this week’s Boy’s Hockey Top 80 Rankings with a new leader taking occupancy of the No.1 position on the table.

Hilton College had gone 13 matches without a loss before they hosted Clifton who had got off to a poor start to their season but have progressively been getting better. However Hilton would have expected to notch another victory to their impressive list of scalps and stay ahead the chasing pack at the head of the field. Clifton however turned in perhaps their finest performance of the season with Wilson, Wood and Spencer rocking Hilton onto the ropes to lead 3-0 in the first chukka. Despite a gallant fight back by Hilton there was just too much work to do against a Clifton side who took their chances when they came and fought to the end to take the victory 4-3.

Jeppe go to the top of the table at this crucial part of the season after peeling off a string of victories and Westville slot into the second spot although there is virtually nothing that separates the front two.

Hilton still have a match in hand before time is called on their season and so do several of the other big names so we may still have some movement on the table before the season is over.
