Cricket: Top 30 Rankings for 13 October, 2012

The table was affected with last weekend’s results which saw most of the stronger teams finding their feet and recording some good results.

KCCBoishaai in particular looked to be back to their dominant best with a comprehensive 73 run win over SACS. This bumped Paarl Boy’s up the ranks by a place and they are now in contention to finish the season strongly.

KES and St. Alban’s put on a great display of cricket which probably ended in the fairest possible way. St. Alban’s who found the going tough managed to set a relatively low score of 178 for 7 off their 50 overs and KES would have been looking to chase down the score in good time. Yet at 101/5 off 35 overs the KES batters were facing an uphill battle against some tight bowling. At the end KES reached 178 at the end of their 50 overs and the result was a tie.

Selborne had a dismal match against struggling Dale who has posed little threat this year and to be bundled out for a paltry 78 runs sees them slip down the table. Two good victories in the week by Glenwood, over Clifton College and St.Charles College, gives them a much needed boost up the table and this weekend’s encounter with Kearsney College will be a massive test for them.

Affies and St.John’s College also provided for a classy match and St. John’s will look back at this one as one that got away. Needing to score at under four runs per over to reach the Affie’s total of 191, SJC could never get a partnership of any worth together as the Affie’s bowler pegged them back with regular wickets. At the end St.John’s fell 57 runs short of the target and handed Affie’s a solid victory.

Several high profile matches were not played over the weekend due to rain including the Westville v Michaelhouse and the Pretoria Boy’s v Menlopark match ended in a draw after rain put a stop to play on the second day.

Thanks to the over 12 000 visitors who checked out the rankings last week and the many emails we received on suggestions and results.
