Affies, who have tended to stumble as the season draws to an end, suffered their second loss in a row after once again failing to post a respectable total on the board. Bowled out for 135 runs they were never really in the match and Saints cantered home to win by 7 wickets. The result sees St.Stithians rocket into the top 10 and Affies are still clinging onto the top 5 slot after starting the season as favourites to top the table.
Wynberg continue to have one of their best season’s to date and whilst so many matches are being affected by the weather around the country somehow Wynberg have managed to get the results and have won their last five matches on the trot. This time it was Boishaai who got dismantled by the Wynberg bowlers with the legspinner Dylan Matthews again in the match with figures of 2/24 and Nikki Zeeman also contributed with 2/8 to set up a 78 run win for Wynberg.
Congratulations to Rondebosch Boy’s who won the Bergvliet T20 final for the second year in succession. Facing SACS in the final Rondebosch notched up 131/4 in their 20 overs with Matthew Christenson top scoring with 45 runs. SACS however struggled to contain Ryan Klein who took a hat-trick which destroyed the SACS cause. Finishing with 4/7 Klien helped set up a 57 runs win for Rondebosch.
Two matches which were sadly abandoned due to rain and deserved to end up with a winner were the St.Alban’s v Parktown match and the Pretoria Boy’s v St.John’s match that both ended up drawn after the rain had the final say. Estiaan Kriek for St.Alban’s was in superlative form scoring 118 and allowing St.Alban’s to post a useful total of 269 runs however with Parktown at 16/1 the heavens opened and the match was abandoned.
