The Affies machine which have started off where they ended last year will perhaps be kicking themselves for not declaring sooner in their match against. St.Davids. Reaching 264/8 before the declaration came they soon had St.Davids in plenty of trouble. However St.Davids provided some solid rear guard action to bat out time and force the draw at close of play.
SACS put on a huge performance to hand Rondebosch their first loss of the year with an impressive 3 wicket win over their neighbours. For once the strong batting lineup of 'Bosch failed to impose themselves on the bowlers and setting a modest 147 for victory the SACS batters clung on to the victory with three wickets to spare.
The much anticipated match between St.John's College and St.Stithians sadly ended in a tame draw after Saints had batted themselves in to a undefeatable positon at 238/9. There was never going to be enough time to bowl out a SJC side who on their day can mix it with the best of them and at stumps they were 167/6 and the spoils were shared.
The Maritzburg College v Glenwood was billed as the big match of the weekend in KZN but it would be a home defeat for College who struggle to post a big enough score. A good return of 3/32 by Madwe for Glenwood stunted College's progress who were bowled out for 132 runs. Glenwood made heavy weather in the beginning in their run chase but when Gareth Wissing came to the crease they hit their straps and chased down the total with ease. Wissing would top score with 35 to hand Glenwood a memorable win on Goldstones.
